Horror Fanatic Bio

Every time I ingest an image of someone cut up, gutted, tortured, screaming, or running, I always wonder, "What does it say about me that I love this material to watch all the time?" Am I sadistic? Do I beat people up? I love horror movies because I like to be scared. I want that adrenaline running through me, my heart pumping so hard it feels as if it's going to jump out of my chest, and am hyperventilating because my gut is wrenched in anxiety with what's going to happen next on screen.

I don't know how this obsession with blood, gore, and guts started. Perhaps it's my enjoyment of constant escapism. Perhaps it's my enjoyment of subversive material implanted in well-done horror movies. Perhaps there's a part of me that believes some of this stuff is real. Or perhaps I just love being scared of things that couldn't possibly ever happen in real life. Either way, I love horror movies and I always will.

I have been a horror fan for as long as I can remember. My favorite horror villain? Freddy Krueger.
He definitely made some appearances in my dreams - never good - but I got a thrill being chased by him. He never caught me and never will.

Most horror movies are appealing but, werewolves are the least interesting supernatural beings to me. The Howling, Ginger Snaps, An American Werewolf in London - nope, doesn't do anything for me at all. And don't get me started with the Underworld movies. As a person that is more of a vampire fan than a werewolf fan, I was upset vampires were portrayed like such weaklings when they are so strong! This of course is all make believe but I'd like to think vampires are much more clever and as strong as werewolves (or more).

Why did I start this blog? I needed an area to place my thoughts about horror pictures. I come from a Communications background - I'm going to analyze the crap out of every movie if there's anything there to it. Most times, it's about effects. Other times the actors. Sometimes about the story and what the writers are trying to say to the world. But most of the time, it'll be about the makeup. I'm a sucker for special effects makeup and gore.

While you're here. Enjoy. Rant. Rave. I'm open to friendly debate about the horror pictures I love or loathe.
