Cabin In the Woods

On Monday, April 9, 2012, I had the opportunity to watch a free screening of this movie. After the opening title sequence was shown, I was hooked. Not only did this movie have the campiness from Evil Dead but anything and everything Joss Whedon related. And if that's not enough, well then I don't know what is!

I don't want to include any spoilers because that would ruin the whole movie for horror audiences. However, what must be said is that this picture is more on the funny campy side than on the scary side. For those looking for a straight up  horror picture to keep you up at night, this movie is not it. For horror fans that love the tongue in cheek style type of flick that has every horror element included and made successfully, this is the movie for you.

As most Joss Whedon fans know, there will be a nice group of alums from his previous shows like Dollhouse and Angel, so no disappointments there.

The performances and banter between the actors was the perfect blend of hilarity and self-awareness that only Joss Whedon can masterfully craft. The script that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard wrote was priceless! Goddard's direction was also on point (with help from Mr. Whedon himself, I'm sure as he was the executive producer on the project) and can I gush any more about this movie?
