April Fool’s Day

Directed by: Fred walton

release date: 1986

Bought on a whim and having never heard of the film prior to watching it, the suspense was built up masterfully and was successful in execution of the plot and story.
The story goes like this: a bunch of college students are asked to visit their classmate, Muffy St. John, whose father has a house on an island. Yes, they are on an isolated island.
There are practical jokes played on each other until…someone dies. As they start dying off one by one, the remaining two try their best to solve the mystery before it’s too late.

For an old school eighties flick, the filmmakers did a fantastic job in sucking you into the picture, not completely emulating Friday the 13th but as a neat homage to it, and standing firm on its own grounds. The remake of the same thing is something different (which I’ve not seen) but this movie works! Even the ending!
Some of the salient actors you’ll remember from eighties fame: Thomas F. Wilson (whom we know as Biff from the Back to the Future Trilogy), Amy Steel (Friday the 13th Part 2), Clayton Rohner (the love interest in Just One of the Guys), and Deborah Goodrich (also from Just One of the Guys). The film wasn’t fantastic but delivered on some kool thrills.
Check it out. I’ve posted the trailer below. Enjoy.
