V/H/S

Directed by: David BrucknerGlenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, Joe Swanberg, Ti West, Adam Wingard

Release Date: 2012

Honestly, when I saw this collection of films, the genre became unappealing to me. I thought, "What is the point of putting people through this?" These films were more disturbing for me than Human Centipede. However, the last segment directed by Radio Silence, brought me back into the fold.

Since this collection of films have different segments, I'll review each one on their own.

I Am Legend

Directed by: Francis Lawrence

Release Date: 2007

As one of the many monster/virus pictures that have been released in the past twenty years, this movie provided a fantastic account of the psychological perspective within an apocalyptic future and didn't focus so much on the transformation of the creatures for cinematic effect so much as there was more focus on the story which was refreshing and welcomed.

Warm Bodies

Directed by: Jonathan Levine

Release Date: 2013

Adapted for the screen from the successful young adult novel of the same name, the screenplay written by Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane), this installment of the zombie comedy genre rivals Simon Pegg's Shaun of the Dead. The right blend of comedy, gore, and thrills worked so cleverly, that any person who loves cinema will enjoy this.

A Haunted House

Directed by: Michael Tiddes

Release Date: 2013

A spoof on Paranormal Activity, this movie does not leave any stone unturned in the supernatural genre of films released lately. Marlon Wayans and writing partner, Rick Alvarez wrote a screenplay that's laugh out loud ridiculous while making fun of the horror genre as a whole.
