Friday the 13th (1980)

Directed by: Sean S. Cunninghman

Release Date: 1980

The first time I saw this picture, it was a DVD rental in my apartment. The lights were off. It was a Friday night. Not having watched this movie prior to volunteering at the Horror Film Festival for many years was sacrilege; viewing of the first movie in this series which has been included in the horror genre for years was a must.

Ever since my first viewing, watching this picture is like watching it for the first time, every time. The film is positively enthralling with each frame.

The music, (Kiii, Mamamama), the POV, the deaths, Kevin Bacon in one his first starring roles, that fantastic surprise ending, the typical deserted, isolated campgrounds with teenagers hooking up oblivious to the evil out there, and of course, did I mention the deaths?

What is there left to say about this picture which spawned one of the genre's most beloved villains? It's gore-tastic (in a subdued way) and cheese-tastic (in the most eighties lovable way)!

Please view if you haven't already!!
